The project team will consult widely with the community and key stakeholders over the coming weeks and months.
These consultations will allow us to present more detail about the proposal, respond to questions and hear your ideas.
At our most recent Community Forum on 24 July 2018, we displayed a series of posters providing an outline of the proposal and some information on flooding and traffic impacts. A copy of these posters can be downloaded here.
We had 54 people to our community information forum on Tuesday, 24 July 2018 where a number of our consultants were in attendance to answer questions about the proposal. This included the project architect (Cox) and our traffic (Calibre) and hydrological (AECOM) engineers.
Attendees were particularly interested in building heights, overshadowing, traffic and parking and the impact on Downer.
The project team attended the Downer Community Association meeting on 7 May 2018 to provide an update on the project and to discuss our response to the City and Gateway Draft Urban Design Framework.
On 30 January 2018, the project team attended a meeting with the ACT Minister for Planning, Mr Mick Gentleman MLA to provide an update on the project.
Over 60 people attended our community information forum on Monday, 11 December 2017 where the project team and Yowani Board members were available to talk through the concept master plan and answer questions about the proposal.
Attendees were particularly interested in project timing, pedestrian and cycle access, traffic and parking and the impact on the existing club.
The Yowani Chair and CEO, along with Elton Consulting, held individual meetings with representatives from Tennis ACT, Netball ACT and Hockey ACT to introduce the project in more detail and to discuss how the development can increase the amenity of the broader precinct.
The project team and Yowani Board members held two briefing sessions with Yowani members to update them on the project, introduce the project team and answer questions from members.
Regular updates will be provided to members through the Chairman’s monthly newsletter and periodic pop-ups at the current clubhouse over the next 6-12 months.
